The Daisy Stories by Crystal Jones are perfect for learning a foreign language as they are based on fascinating little stories with basic vocabulary so you don't run the risk of learning words that you are never going to use in your whole life. They are also a very pleasant introduction to the structures of the Italian literary style, which may be sometimes rather different from those found in the spoken language. For instance, you will notice a frequent use of the Passato Remoto tense (equivalent to the English simple past) which is rarely used in modern spoken Italian.
